PICTURES FROM PORTLAND GAME POSTED!
6-24-2006-- Pictures from the Portland game can be seen here. Pictures were taken by my son Spencer, who will be a freshman at North Eugene next year. Spencer did a great job and appreciated the greetings from players. More later.

EDGE SHOW PROMISE IN HOME LOSS
6-17-2006-- It is hard to put a smiley face on a 55-14 loss, but there really was one in this matchup against the Corvallis Pride. The Pride totally dominated most of the first half.. Even though the Edge scored early the Pride really went to town for most of the second quarter, scoring 22 points. But near the end of the half the Edge started a good offensive drive that was stopped by the clock and not the Pride defense. The key to the drive was four or five pass attempts, three of which were completed and they seemed to throw off the Pride defense which has almost exclusively seen the run game from the Edge in past games.

The end of the half momentum seemed to carry over into the second half. Although the Edge were outscored 16-8 in the second half they really played even with the Pride for most of it. I have watched this team since its inception and the third quarter of this game may have been one of the best played in franchise history. The team controlled the field position game for most of the third, culminating in a punt to the INCH line when "Rookie" stopped the ball from going into the endzone for a touchback. On the very next play the Edge would get what I believe is their first safety. The defensive line made great penetration into the Corvallis backfield to bring the runner down before crossing the goal line for two points!

Pictures from the Pride game can be seen here. I would like team members to know that I cannot attend next week's game against the Shockwave. I am hoping I can convince my son Spencer to attend and take pictures for a few quarters. I wish I could attend but the NNFL championship is taking place in Sweet Home. Had it not been the CHAMPIONSHIP game I would forgo the NNFL and attend the Edge! I wish all the players the best of luck and I am sorry I cannot be with you for the seaon finale.

SCORCHERS DOWN EDGE IN HOME OPENER
EUGENE, OR (5-20-2006)- The Eugene Edge played tough for a half but eventually fell to the visiting Santa Rosa Scorchers 41-0. Despite the lopsided score the team shows improvement. In this game a lot of points were scored against the Edge because the team ran out of gas or was going through a learning curve process in some instances. True the Scorchers began to gain momentum late in the second quarter but it really wasn't until after half time that they took almost complete control.

The Edge displayed a reasonable running game but the lack of pass attempts allowed the Scorcher defense to eventually key on the run and contain the Edge offense. Both Tina Young and Coco Rawlings had some good runs, but all to often they had to work hard just for a yard or two. There was a point late in the game when the Edge started attempting passes. Although the passes fell incomplete, it helped open up the running game a bit because it forced Santa Rosa to play honest on defense. The Edge did complete a few good passes late in the game but the QB started to become to reliant on one receiver and the defense began to key on her.

The team now goes on the road for a game at Redding, a place where they only lost by a point last season, before returning home June 3rd against the Seattle Majestics, a team formerly located in Tacoma. The Majestics defeated the league champion Sacramento Sirens earlier this year but lost to the Shockwave last week. It appears the West is starting to become very competative. Pictures from the Edge versus Scorchers game can be seen here.

EDGE LOSE OPENER TO PRIDE 36-8!
PHILOMATH, OR (4-29-2006)- It was a long wait but the Eugene Edge is back in action. First off the Fan Page would like to apologize to the players for not making the Pride game. I had fully intended to make it up to Philomath for the contest but illness struck late Friday night and carried over until Saturday night. Plans for NNFL coverage had to be altered as well. It is my intention to make it to the away game at Portland on the 13th of May.

For the 5th year in a row the Edge was unable to get a victory at the Pride. Every year the team makes strides and improvement but it seems Corvallis somehow keeps the advantage! This time the Edge were defeated by a score of 36-8. Although I wasn't able to attend someone from the organization posted pictures from the game and they can be viewed here!

The team now gets a bye week before the big contest in Portland. The IWFL tried some different scheduling this season and the Edge and Shockwave will play three times this year, with two of the games in Portland. Hopefully the Edge can win this season series. Only three years ago the Edge and Shockwave split their season series.

Lastly, I am working on posting all the pictures from previous seasons. I will be working on this project throughout the week and will hopefully have it done by the weekend. I urge you to visit later in the week if this interests you. Thanks for stopping by and GO EDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDGE HOLD TRYOUT AT SHELDON!
EUGENE, OR (10-1-2005)- After a dissappointing season in which for player safety and concerns the team was unable to play their final games of the 2005 season the Eugene Edge is back and it appears ready for the 2006 season with many new faces to go with some familiar ones.

Twelve players showed up today for the team's tryout at Sheldon High School. Despite the low sounding number turnout was good because more than half of the expected turnout called in and couldn't attend due to work or other reasons. So the team has a good number of players but is still hoping to add about ten more to give them over 30!

Players interested in trying out should visit the official team page at http://www.theeugeneedge.com and follow the correct links to contact the team.

Pictures from the teams previous tryout can be seen at the official website and pictures from today's tryout are posted here!
